I had the opportunity this past fall to spend some time with George Snow and record him telling the story of the night the lumber ship the Nelson B sank off of Port Maitland in 1967. George is now 91 but at the time of the sinking was both a fisherman and an MLA in the Nova Scotia government. His boat was the first to reach the lifeboats and they were able to rescue all the crew. It is quite a story and this was a fun project to be a part of. You can see the project that this video was a part of here. And you can read some more detail in a recent story published in the Yarmouth Vanguard here.
